The surgical team at Moreno Spine and Scoliosis has over 60 years combined experience in treating patients with spine disorders.

 

Anthony P. Moreno, MD

Anthony P. MorenoDr. Moreno received his Bachelor's and Medical degrees from the University of Florida, where he graduated with honors. He completed his orthopaedic residency at Jackson Memorial Medical Center/University of Miami. He has also completed a Spine Surgery Fellowship at Hahnemann/Penn. A board- certified orthopaedic spine surgeon, Dr. Moreno is a member of the American College of Spine Surgery and has done presentations around the world on spinal surgical techniques.

Dr. Moreno has been in private practice since 1998 and has completed over 2,000 spinal surgeries, from the most basic to the most complex. He treats a wide variety of spine disorders with techniques such as microdisectomy, scoliosis correction, and total disk replacement. Dr. Moreno enjoys basic cervical and lumbar microsurgeries but also spends a large portion of his practice on complex revision spinal deformities in adults and children. He specializes in scoliosis and kyphosis reconstruction. He is an active fellow of the Scoliosis Research Society and is the Director of the Mease Neuro-Ortho Spine Surgery Center at Mease Countryside Hospital.

Dr. Moreno has privileges at Mease Countryside Hospital, Shriners Hospital for Children in Tampa, and Tampa General Hospital in Tampa.

 

Samuel A. Joseph, Jr., MD

Dr. Xinmin TangDr. Samuel A. Joseph Jr. completed his Bachelors of Science Degree at the University of Akron in two years with honors, and received his medical degree from the Northeastern Universities College of Medicine, graduating at the top of his class.

Training in general and orthopedic surgery was completed at the Stony Brook University Medical Center in New York. Dr. Joseph then went on to train in one of the most prestigious spine fellowship programs under the direction on Dr. Michael Neuwirth at the Spine Institute of New York. There he specialized in pediatric and adult scoliosis as well as a multitude of degenerative disorders of the spine, with emphasis on revision surgeries.

Dr. Joseph’s practice includes the specialized, conservative and surgical care of patients, including diagnostic and therapeutic injections, disc replacement surgery, minimally invasive techniques as well as the spectrum of complex reconstruction of adult and pediatric spinal disorders.

Dr. Joseph has published articles in peer review neurosurgical and orthopedic spine journals. His research on scoliosis, degenerative, as well as spine surgery in the elderly has been presented at many international meetings including the International Meeting for Advance Spinal Techniques.

 

David M. Epperson, MD

David M. Epperson, MDDavid M. Epperson, M.D., a diplomat of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, is the latest physician to join Moreno Spine and Scoliosis, P.C.

Dr. Epperson received his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine, after obtaining his bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in chemistry from Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi.  He continued his education with a transitional surgical internship at one of the affiliate hospitals of the Yale University Health System, Griffin Hospital in Derby, Connecticut. He then completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation through East Carolina University at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville, North Carolina. Finally, he concluded his training by doing a twelve month fellowship in Interventional Pain Management in Marietta, Georgia.

Dr. Epperson is dedicated to advancing and improving the treatment of both acute and chronic painful medical conditions and sports related injuries.  As an expert in the field of pain management, he has testified in federal court regarding this area of medical care. He has also participated on an Atlanta medical advisory board to determine the standard of care regarding the use of certain pain medications.

Dr. Epperson is a fellow member of the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with addition special interest group affiliation in Pain Management and in Sports Medicine.  He has also been a member of the Association of Academic Physiatrists, and the Physiatric Association of Spine, Sports and Occupational Rehabilitation.

 

Felipe Olivero, CST, CFA

Received his education and training from Thomas C. Ongay Technical School in Puerto Rico in 1980. After working as a Certified Surgical Technologist for four years, he relocated to Florida where he worked and excelled in various area hospital operating rooms specializing and coordinating their orthopedic services.  Since 1992 he has held a national certification as a Surgical First Assistant.  He joined Dr. Anthony Moreno in 2003, working in the both clinical and surgical procedures.  He is a member of the Association of Surgical First Assistants.

 

Tracey L. Stecker, PA-C

Received her Bachelor’s and Master’s of Physician Assistant degrees from King’s College, Wilkes-Barre, PA.  After graduating in 2005, she completed a one-year surgical residency at Duke University Medical Center (DUMC), North Carolina.  While at DUMC, she worked extensively in the pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care of surgical patients, including the specialties of neurosurgery and orthopedic surgery.  She began working at Moreno Spine and Scoliosis in December 2006.  She is board certified by the National Commission of Physician Assistants.  She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and Florida Academy of Physician Assistants.

 

Marjorie A. Finlay, PA-C

Received her education and training at the University of Nebraska Medical School- Via an inter-service Physician Assistant Program –US Air Force and graduated September 2004. She worked at the USSOCOM Clinic at MacDill Air Force Base in Florida. Her prior work experience includes working as a License Nurse Practioner since 1978. She is currently in the Air National Guard, 153 CACs, Cheyenne, Wyoming. She began working at Moreno Spine & Scoliosis in October 2008. She is board certified by the National Commission of Physician Assistants. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and Florida Academy of Physician Assistants.
